Brief
History
Capital TV was founded in 1995 by two Australian
expats,
Raine Grady and Les Nyerges.
Since then, Capital TV’s identity has grown steadily
with
its programs becoming some of the best-known TV brands in the region.
Capital TV’s first major break was when it started to
produce a local business/property TV program called ‘The Richard Ellis
Report’. This program was aired on IBC Thailand for several years and
then received the attention of CNBC. In 1996, the company started
launching several international weekly programs covering
property/business and travel on the CNBC Asia Network.
- Hot Property Asia
- ASEAN Report
- The Business of Travel
STAR TV was Capital TV’s next step. A change in format
from business to leisure started “Travel Asia & Beyond” in 1997.
This program was aired weekly on STAR World to more
than
50 countries for more than 10 years!
Capital TV’s focus on the travel industry has allowed
Capital TV to develop one of the largest stock libraries in the
region.
Amongst its customers is STAR TV who uses its material for its
STARAsiaTravel.com vignettes. Capital TV’s material is being broadcast
time and time again!
In 2000 Capital TV instigated a TV leisure/magazine
program called ‘Destination Thailand’ specifically focusing on
Thailand.
Now in its 9th year on TRUE Series the program is also rebranded and
aired in Pattaya and Phuket on local cables.
In 2005 Capital TV won the coveted AUSCHAM SME Business
Awards. An award for achievement as the best known English language
producer in Thailand.
